Preliminary Purification

 

Source water preliminary purification is a necessary step, ensuring safe and error-free operation of successive units of the present system correcting water saline content.
Besides, in some cases, preliminary purification technologies appear to be independent water treatment technologies, for instance, when drinking water processing.

Apart from preliminary water purification technologies (clearing and mechanical filtering) being traditional for Russia, we can offer you the following solutions:

  • clearing by Means of Flotation is a cutting-edge technology, enjoying such advantages as compactness, high operational compatibility of flotation plant, short installation terms;
  • self-Washing Sand Mechanical Filters represent one of the latest world products, representing an integration of a clearing device and a mechanical filter based on self-repairing filter elements. The advantages of this tehnology consist in its compactness and all-round automation.  
  • ultrafiltration/microfiltration is the most effective clearing technology based on the untilizing of the membranes with filtering capacity comprising 0.01 – 0.03 micrometers. Among all existing clearing water technologies this one is notable due both to the quality of the water treated and to rather low maintenance costs; at this all advantages of the above-mentioned technologies, i.e. compactness, high operational compatibility and all-round automation remain the same.


ENERGOKASKAD CJSC prossesses its own pilot units for all the preliminary clearing modes stated. The pilot units make it possible to conduct a test-run of the technologies in real-life environment and to choose the one, which optimally suits both for water clearing and for more precise estimation of water treatment unit maintenance costs at the stage of pre-project investigations.
 

Desalting (water saline content correcting)

 

Desalting is a stage of deeper water clearing, enabling to get the water with exactly preset quality characteristics. We can select the most appropriate technical solution of any of those existing in world at present for each concrete task so as to derive softened, half of deeply desalted water.

 

  • Direct-Flow ion Exchange is a classical ion exchange technology, when the filter is fed with water and filtering material regeneration reactant only unidirectionally. The benefits of this technology result in project simplicity and profitability. The only restriction is the expediency of the usage of the technology when one treats small volumes of water (up to 100 m3 per hour) or when on uses the water with low saline content.
  • Counter-Flow ion exchange is one the most efficient chemical water treatment technologies, in which the direction of water flow is opposite to that of the filtering agent.

    Counted-Flow ion Exchanget benefits are given below:
    • high efficiency (including that of individual filters);
    • compactness;
    • considerable saving of reactants and maintenance costs if compared with direct-flow ion-exchange (twofold economy, as a minimum);
    • reduction of auxiliary water consumption (three- - fivefold economy); 
    • saving of costs on supplementary feeding of ion-exchange resins (from 15-20 % to 2% per year).
       
    Counter-flow ion-exchange technology drawbacks are as follows:
    • necessity to use imported filtering materials;
    • high consumption of reactants (if compared with membrane technologies);
    • high degree of waste water salinization.

  • Membrane Technology is the most leading-edge and advanced one. It has won its reputation due to a practically total exclusion of reactants i.e. salts and acids. A membrane unit represents a system, where special membranes chosen according to source water quality and derived water required quality serve as a filter element:
    • nano-filtration membrane unit is designated for partial desalting;
    • reverse-osmosis membrane unit is designated for complete desalting.

    • maintenance simplicity;
    • compactness;
    • lack of reactants and reactant feed plant;
    • ecological compatibility.

    The drawbacks are as follows:

    • High requirements for source water preliminary purifying;
    • High level of membrane unit water consumption.
       

Each water treatment unit is equipped with Automatic Process Control Systems, where the automation level is determined by the Customer’s desire.
